The MTh Theology is a Cardiff University degree delivered through St Padarn’s Institute and the South Wales Baptist College. This flexible programme has been designed with the busy life of those working in Christian Ministry in mind, both lay people and ordained ministers. Teaching for the MTh in Theology normally taking place about one day a month.
The MTh in Theology offers a range of pathways, including Practical Theology. A CMD course in Leadership for Ministry Areas, which can lead to an MTh, is under development.
Typical students include a minister in the Church in Wales, a Baptist Minister, the manager of a social outreach programme and the manager of a charity.
The programme is solidly focused on issues of practical ministry, equipping students with tools for analytical reflection and evaluation of issues and situations that may arise in the workplace. For some students that workplace will be overtly Christian, for others it will not – this programme caters for both contexts. The aim is to establish you as a professional with a serious and credible approach to your ministry, work and career.
On the MTh you will need to focus on one of four different pathways:
- Practical Theology
- Christian Doctrine
- Biblical Studies
- Church History
- Christian Leadership
